A couple of pictures of my brother’s cats. They are very cute and quite friendly.
Almost to my brother’s house in Camrose, and I managed to encounter an afternoon thunderstorm, common out here on the prairies. It did not impede my progress, but it was a reminder that I’m back here where I grew up with this kind of weather.
I managed to get out on my bike and enjoyed the lovely day in Cranbrook. I found a trail to Kimberley, which is a “rails-to-trails” pathway, i.e. a converted railway right-of-way that’s had the tracks removed and a paved multi-use path installed. It was quite nice and a good way to get to Kimberley. I …
I’m in Canada now, after a two day drive from California. I took the “usual” route for getting to Calgary, although my actual destination wasn’t solely there, as I was visiting friends and family along the way. The first day was a drive from the Bay Area, up I-5 to Weed, north of Redding, past …
I drove down to Pacific Grove this afternoon, to enjoy a relaxing evening before doing a long bike ride tomorrow. I walked around a bit and saw some interesting things. Pictures are below the fold.

I arrived at Monument Valley the evening before, and got to spend the night in a cute little cabin at Goulding’s, with a bit of a view of the monuments to the east, and backed by a large mesa to the west. I got a hike in this morning to see the sunrise over the …
After I finished the Tour of Utah, I continued east to Monument Valley. My route would take me past the Colorado River at Marble Canyon, past the Elephant’s Feet formations at Tonalea and through the cute little town of Tsegi, which we named one of our cats after, as he is red like the Tsegi …
Today wasn’t too much distance, but we reached the highest point, at 10,500′. Also we got to ride past Cedar Breaks National Monument, where the views were very scenic. This was my last day on the bike, as Day 7, I would be driving SAG, so I made sure that I pushed myself a little …
