Some pictures of my trip back from Canada, where it had been cold and snowy
I went to Canada to visit my brother and his family for the Christmas break. They live near Edmonton and the forecast was snow and cold. And the forecast delivered exactly that. I had an enjoyable time, albeit with most of it spent indoors, where it was warm and cozy. I enjoyed some tasty turkey …
I just got back from Durango, taking a couple of days to make the journey. I didn’t take too many pictures on the way back, except during my side trip on the old Route 66, via Oatman Highway. This is a twisty, slightly dangerous, mountain road that was replaced by Interstate 40. It was interesting …
I continued my journey east to Durango. The stops along the way were Mexican Hat, Valley of the Gods, and Mesa Verde. Mexican Hat Mexican Hat is a town in Utah, but is also a unique rock formation that looks a bit like a Mexican hat. I decided to stop and get a closeup photo …

Probably the “Queen” stage of the Tour, with a climb to over 9600′, and a very scenic side tour of Capitol Reef National Park. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.
Morning Hike The day was split into two, with time set aside in the morning to do whatever we wanted. I took a shuttle into the park and did a short hike on the Navajo Loop Trail. The trail featured switchbacks on the way down and back up, and went through several narrow slot canyons. …
