The Moon and Mars were exceptionally close this evening. I missed the moment when Mars passed behind the Moon, but this photo shows them still pretty close to each other.

I went to see the exhibition football (i.e. soccer) game at Levi’s Stadium this evening. It was the Hollywood team, Wrexham vs Chelsea, and also a chance to see a game at this stadium ahead of the World Cup in 2026. The game was entertaining and the final score, a draw, was a fair result.
I went out to Long Ridge for a hike on this, the most Super of Sundays. It was later in the day, which added to the appeal as the sun started to set.
There was a lot of rain last night, and I decided to check out the San Francisquito creek, which is pretty close to me. I wandered over to the Pope/Chaucer bridge, where the creek marks the boundary between Menlo Park and Palo Alto. The water level was quite high when I arrived, and I watched …
