Today was our last day in England as our destination was St Boswells in Scotland. We were offered two choices for a route there. A long one featured a toxic waste dump, a junkyard (I love those cute and friendly dogs there) and a Pharaoh’s Crypt. The short route featured some fine potato salad at the lunch stop. The choice was easy and I opted for the short route, as much as I enjoy raiding a tomb.

The day started out nice and sunny, and the first highlight was seeing the ruins of Hadrian’s wall. There were a few sections along the route that had informative plaques and it was interesting to see where the wall was, high up on a ridge for a good vantage point.

After that, we continued on the rolling hills of England and soon enough we were riding the rolling hills of Scotland. Before that, we had some good potato salad for lunch. The lunch spot also had a nice view of a creek and some sheep.

Riding in Scotland was quite enjoyable, although I got wet during a short shower. I also missed the parade featuring marching band with bagpipes and drums. It was still a lovely ride and the roads here were mostly quiet with little traffic.

Tomorrow we continue on to Edinburgh and follow that up the day after with a rest day.
