Today’s ride was similar to yesterday’s in terms of distance and climbing. Even so, we went into areas that were unique and interesting. The pictures accompanying this report don’t do it justice.

We started off along the coast for a short bit and then climbed up and over some short hills before continuing on rolling roads on our way to crossing the River Dyvi.

On our way back to the coast we had a short but steep climb, and then a good stretch of rollers before reaching the sea and lunch.

After enjoying the food and views we turned inland and started another long climb with plenty of steep pitches. A feature of this climb were the numerous sheep gates, where we had to open them, ride through and then close behind us.

At the top of that climb we were treated to a great view of the Afon Mawddach (a river mouth and estuary) and the towns there.

There was some more rollers before tackling the last climb, featuring three steep sections with some recovery in between each of those. The highland hills at the top were bare and windswept, although we had little wind today.

Most of the day was overcast and cool, which was great for climbing. Hopefully we have more of that for tomorrow’s similar day.

We said goodbye to Aberystwyth this morning. We had fun staying in you and trying to pronounce your name.
