After a rest day in Bristol, it was time for the first of a five day block in Wales 🏴 We braved the morning traffic out of Bristol and eventually got on some quieter roads along the River Avon that cut through a lovely gorge.
The gorge opened up to some wetlands next to the River Severn. After a diversion, we crossed the river over the Severn Bridge, which is a suspension bridge similar to the Golden Gate Bridge.
We had lunch at the ruins of the Tintern Abbey and then we hit the climbs. Wales is pretty hilly, although none of the climbs are long. It’s definitely is pretty here in the hills.
I eventually reached the finish hotel, which is at the top of a climb. Not the most enjoyable way to finish but the views are great here. Tomorrow is an even hillier day but the weather is looking nice so it kind of balances out.
