The first day of our cycling tour. We started in Putney on the south side of the Thames and made our way north to the famous Abbey Road crosswalk. After getting the obligatory photo, we continued west out of London, with our destination for the day being Oxford, home of the famous university.
It took a while to get out of London, because London is big. Once we reached the countryside, we were treated to mostly quiet roads, including some that were quite narrow.
On the way we passed through many small towns and villages, as well as the famous Pinewood Studios, where many films such as Star Wars were filmed.
The ride was mostly flat with a couple of small climbs for a change of pace. We eventually reached Oxford and rode through the university there. We got a few sprinkles near the end, but otherwise the day was mostly cloudy and cool but still pleasant riding conditions. Tomorrow looks like rain so I’ll take it.
