Cycling Weekend in the Sierra

Grizzly Century

I drove up to North Fork this weekend to ride the Grizzly Century. My friends Lyresa and Tom had done it in previous years and they decided to do it this year and I figured it would be a welcome change instead of the usual local rides.

The weather was nice although a little colder at the start resulting from a weather system that came through the day before. The ride day was very pleasant as it warmed up soon enough.

A recent fire had burned a lot of the trees, which did give more clear views of the Sierras. Also, there was very little traffic for most of the ride, so good views and quiet roads makes for an enjoyable ride.

The support the rest stops was very good, with lots of goodies and water. Overall a very nice experience.

These geese were creating quite the cacophony

Redinger Lake and Million Mile Road

Recovery ride to Redinger Lake. “Enjoyed” the bumpy, rough road to the lake. We then enjoyed the nice closed-to-cars Million Dollar Rd to the water fall.

Not the main waterfall but a warm up act
A little bit of the lake showing near the baby waterfall
The main waterfall. Quite an impressive amount of water for this time of year

Water, falling
A meeting of the bike flat fixing committee was convened
We found the center of California, where someone thought it worth placing a marker
